About Lex Macula

Lex Macula is a registered NGO under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. They are a youth organisation specializing in organizing moot courts, debates, seminars and other legal competitions for a much better learning experience than what is offered to the law students.

 

About the Event

Criminal law is a huge part of a law student’s syllabus and one is always intrigued by it. A murder trial is defined as the trial of a person who is accused of murder. This event aims to educate people on the procedure, the law as well as the field reality of murder trials in India. And who better to talk on this topic than Advocate Tanveer Ahmed Mir who has been at the helm of some major criminal cases in India in the past years.

Having been practising for the last 22 years he has taken up the cases of the Aarushi Talwar-Hemraj double murder case, Ryan School murder case and the Sheena Bohra murder case-to name a few.

Lex Macula aims to educate people through this topic and hope that they take away something of value from this conversation with him. With this spirit in mind, they duly invite everyone to attend this session on the topic: “Murder Trial 101” on 30th August 2020 at 5 PM.

 

About the Speakers

Advocate, Tanveer Ahmed Mir is a practising criminal lawyer for last 22 years, having his offices at Defence Colony New Delhi and is also a founder partner of firm Lex Alliance. Mr. Mir has successfully defended the accused in cases like 2G Spectrum, Aarushi Talwar – Hemraj double murders (both trial and appeal), Ryan School murder case, Augusta Westland scam case, coal scam – corruption and money laundering indictments. He has further successfully defended Gurmeet Ram Rahim and his organisation “Dera Sacha Sauda” in the sedition case.

Mr. Mir is the defence counsel for corporate lobbyist Deepak Talwar in corruption and money laundering cases. He defended Mr. Robert Vadra and his associates in money laundering cases. Mr. Mir is also a counsel for Indrani Peter Mukherjee in Sheena Bohra murder case in Mumbai.

He is the defence counsel in famous Nargis Juneja Kidzee murder case. He has also been the defence counsel in the famous case of Kaali Ram Vs. State (the only triple murder acquittal done by Hon’ble Delhi High Court in the year 2012). He recently defended Kuldeep Singh Sengar in the Unnao rape case and defends Dr. Shivinder Mohan Singh in the Ranbaxy/Religare scam.
