The think tank, Niti Manthan currently functions in the areas of Research, Legal blogs, Internships, E-classes, Young Leaders for Legal Literacy Program, Research Centers on Medical and Health Law, Environmental Law, International Criminal Law & Psycho-Legal Studies, Workshops, Certificate Courses and Lecture Series.

About the Internship Program

The research projects being undertaken during Niti Manthan Winter School and Online Internship Program, 2021 would be under the following heads:

CELRA

The Centre for Environmental Law, Research and Action is committed to creating possibilities for student inclusivity in environmental policymaking. In pursuance of this goal, we run monthly student internship programmes that aim to introduce our interns to various fundamental aspects of environmental law and policymaking.

CELRA is Calling for Applications for research interns for a research study on the Model Bill for The Conservation, Protection, Regulation and Management of Groundwater, 2016 and how it can be adopted in the State of Karnataka. The scope of this research is to study the provisions laid down in detail.

This study will also examine the ‘Draft National Water Framework Bill of 2016’ to study the differences and similarities in sections with the 2016 Model Groundwater Bill. Researchers will additionally examine the relevant groundwater and water consumption laws of Karnataka.

The objective of this study is to propose to relevant stakeholders and policymakers the adoption of a sustainable and efficient groundwater framework that is just, equitable and wary of the looming water crisis prevalent in the country.

Eligibility Criteria: A regular student or practising professional of law, environmental policy, or related fields.

Selection Criteria: For the first round of shortlisting, CV’s and writing samples will be considered. It will be followed by a group discussion interview round.

Legal History and Criminal Trials

To analyse the historical Criminal trials in India, in order to understand the functioning of the criminal justice administration system during the colonial era. Judgments from 1860 until 1947 shall be perused in the study. It will be an interesting amalgamation of history, politics and law–an area not much explored in academia.

Eligibility Criteria: A regular student or practising professional of law, history, sociology, political science.

Selection Criteria: For the first round of shortlisting, CV’s will be considered. It will be followed by a group discussion interview round.
