The IRHRL Editors invite submissions for its Seventh Issue (February 2022) of innovative and original manuscripts focusing on human rights law issues.
About the Journal
The International Review of Human Rights Law (IRHRL) (ISSN 2455 – 8648) is an annual, online, open-access and peer-reviewed law journal.
Submission Guidelines
How to Submit: All manuscripts must be anonymised and the details of authors must be submitted as a separate attachment (“Title Page”) as provided above. Manuscripts for consideration may be sent as an email attachment (Word or Word compatible) to the Board at: submissions.irhrl[at]gmail.com.
Language: The Journal publishes manuscripts only in English. However, it encourages authors to refer to research material published not only in English but also in other languages. For manuscripts in English, spelling must be consistent throughout. The Editorial Board is keen to work with all contributors whose mother tongue is not English, where necessary to facilitate the language editing in respect of accepted manuscripts.
Fee Details: There are no article processing and publication charges.
- Authorship of papers is limited to two authors.
- The submissions can be in the form of Articles, Essays, Case Notes, Book Reviews and Responses to scholarly works published in law reviews or books.
- Use Times New Roman as font style, 12 as font size and 1.5 line spacing. For footnotes, use Times New Roman as font style, 10 as font size and single spacing.
- The journal accepts Bluebook (20th edition) for citation style.
- All manuscripts must include an introduction and a conclusion.
- All submissions must include four to six keywords and an abstract no more than 250 words.
- The submissions must be accompanied by a separate ‘Title Page’ giving:
- Title of the manuscript.
- Category of the manuscript
- Total word count
- Contributor(s) name and contact details.Email and phone contact of the author designated to receive correspondence.
- Present academic or professional affiliations of the author(s) and any professional or personal involvement in the subject matter of the manuscript.
- Acknowledgements, if any.
- A declaration to the effect that, the submitted work is the original work and doesn’t violate the copyright of any other person, the citations are accurate, the author has read the submission policy and has duly complied with it.
Length of Submissions (inclusive of footnotes)
- Article: 5000 – 10000 words
- Essay: 3500 – 5000 words
- Case Note: 2500 – 3000 words
- Book Review: 2000 – 3500 words
- Response: 3000 – 3500 words
Important Dates
- The last date of submission is 5th September 2021.
IRHRL Review Process
- The Editorial Board will promptly acknowledge the receipt of the submissions.
- All submissions received are evaluated by the Chief Executive Editor throughout the review process. It will first be edited by a member of Editorial Board and then by Technical Editors/Senior Executive Editors and later by Senior academic referees. Thereafter, notification of acceptance, rejection or need for revision will be given, normally, within fifteen days of receipt of the manuscript, although exceptions to this time frame may occur.
- Substantive changes proposed by the Editorial Board will only be made in consultation with the author. The final decision on publication rests with the Editorial Board after submissions are revised and re-edited accordingly.
- The Editorial Board will review submissions carefully on the criteria of originality, scope, content, structure, research, analysis, the accomplishment of the paper’s purpose and inclusion of counter-arguments in the submissions. The submissions will be out-rightly rejected if plagiarized.
- Upon acceptance of manuscripts, the authors will be invited to complete a copyright declaration form before publication
