About Precision Development (PxD):
This pioneering model of agricultural extension is implemented in collaboration with partner organizations to maximize scale, and we continuously experiment, iterate, and gather evidence on impact to improve service delivery and demonstrate our value.
PxD currently works in eleven countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, and is rapidly expanding as governments and organizations look for innovative ways to utilize new technologies to deliver actionable information to people who need it. At the end of Q4 2021, PxD and our partners were servicing 5.7 million users through a range of initiatives providing tailored digital information on crop optimization, pest management, input utilization, and environmental stewardship.
PxD also leverages mobile technology to deliver information in sectors beyond agriculture, including to facilitate math education in Kenya, improving household nutrition, increasing the adoption of crop insurance and other financial services, and other interventions that advance well-being.
About the Internship Opportunity
PxD is looking for a driven and creative person to join a high-performing flexible team as an Intern – New Programs. The successful candidate will support partnership development, initial research and scoping, new program design, and fundraising efforts to implement operations in potential new geographies and new programs in existing geographies. You will work closely with relevant Program Leads, PxD’s Chief Development Officer and Director of New Programs, and the New Programs and Fundraising Team.
This is an exciting opportunity to have a significant impact on PxD’s future development, as part of a friendly, high-performing and non-hierarchical team. The successful candidate will have the opportunities to work at the intersection of fundraising, program development, and implementation.
Responsibilities
Assignment responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Meeting with and developing partnerships with potential PxD partners
- Desk research on the agriculture sector and other potential sectors in new geographies, target user populations, and other research topics for new programs
- Program design and workplan and budget creation for new programs
- Writing concept notes and proposals for potential PxD funders and partners
Eligibility
The ideal candidate for this internship placement has many or all of the following:
- Strong written and oral communication skills, in English
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail
- Experience with fundraising and/or proposal development
- Experience with partnership development
- Desired: experience with different languages
