Internship Opportunity at BankDRT: Delhi and Bangalore: Applications Open!




BankDRT offers law students and graduates short, medium, and long term internship opportunities as well as online internships in the broad field of banking laws.

The Debts Recovery Tribunal (DRT) enforces provisions of the Recovery of Debts Due to Banks and Financial Institutions (RDDBFI) Act, 1993 and also Securitization and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interests (SARFAESI) Act, 2002.

Under the Recovery of Debts Due to Banks and Financial Institutions (RDDBFI) Act, 1993 banks approach the Debts Recovery Tribunal (DRT) whereas, under Securitization and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interests (SARFAESI) Act, 2002 borrowers, guarantors, and other any other person aggrieved by any action of the bank can approach the Debts Recovery Tribunal (DRT).

Debts Recovery Tribunal are located across the country. Some cities have more than one Debts Recovery Tribunals. New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata and Mumbai have three Debts Recovery Tribunals.

Ahmedabad and Chandigarh have two Debts Recovery Tribunal (DRT) each. One Debts Recovery Tribunal has been constituted at Allahabad, Aurangabad, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Cuttack, Ernakulam, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jabalpur, Jaipur, Lucknow, Madurai, Nagpur, Patna, Pune, Vishakapatnam and Ranchi

About the Legal Internship Opportunity

BankDRT offers internships to Law undergraduates as well as to Law Graduates, to help students have a broad macro-level overview of the laws relating to the recovery of debts due to Banks and financial institutions, and also the remedies available to the borrower/guarantors and other third parties in disputes on banking issues. 

General Terms and Conditions of the Internship

Legal Interns can choose place of their internship either at our Delhi Office or at Bangalore Office.

Legal Internship is generally given to undergraduate students of 5th or 6th sem (3 –year law course) or 8th sem and above (5 year Law course).

  • Undergraduate Legal Interns can seek short-term legal internship (30 to 60 days).
  • Graduate Legal Interns can take long-term internships (180 days).

Legal Internship in BankDRT is a very serious affair. BankDRT invests a lot of time, money, and energy in the Legal Interns and mentors them seriously in the field of Banking Law, more particularly, debt recovery and associated Laws.

Therefore Legal Interns should not apply and/or accept offers of Legal Internship if they are not serious about their physical and mental stamina to work in this rigorous field.

Internship Offers and Duration

  • Short term internship: 30 days
  • Medium term internship: 90 days
  • Long term internship: 180 days
  • Online internship

Eligibility

  • Short term internship: 9th and 10th-semester law students (in some cases, the internship is also offered to students of 7th and 8th semester)
  • Medium term and long-term internship: Law graduates

Stipend

As a thumb rule, generally, short-term legal interns are not entitled to any stipend.

Long-term legal interns are allowed a stipend up to Rs. 5,000/- pm.

Certificate

Legal interns who perform exceptionally well, whether they are short-term legal interns or long-term legal interns, are given cash rewards.

On successful completion of the internship, legal interns will be given an internship cum work experience Certificate.
