Call for Paper

Invitation for Research Papers and paper presentation on the Relevance of Basic Structure Doctrine in Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of Kesavananda Bharati Decision.

The Kesavananda Bharati decision, one of the most significant judicial dictum in the history of Indian constitutional law, brought in the concept of "basic structure" which restraints the amending power of the Indian Parliament. As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of this landmark decision, we invite submissions of research papers that explore the various aspects of the basic structure doctrine and its impact on Indian constitutional law.

Contributors may explore topics such as the historical context of the Kesavananda Bharati decision the reasoning behind the basic structure doctrine, its evolution over the years, and its practical implications for the Indian legal system. Papers may also delve into the various debates and controversies surrounding the doctrine, such as its scope, limitations, and the possibility of judicial abuse of power.

This call for papers and presentation aims to provide a platform for critical analysis and discussion of the basic structure doctrine and its journey for the last 50 years. It is our hope that this discourse will contribute to a deeper understanding of this important legal principle and its implications for the Indian legal system.
