About the Journal
The Journal of Legal Studies (JLS) is National Law University Delhi’s annual student-edited, double-blind peer-reviewed law journal. It seeks to provide a forum for engaging in discussions on varied issues of contemporary importance in domestic and international law and policy.
The aim of the journal is to draw attention to and provide critical insight into crucial issues impacting the legal sphere.
About the Call for Paper
The Editorial Board is pleased to invite submissions from academics, researchers, practitioners, and students for the sixth volume of the journal, due to be published in August 2024. The deadline for submissions for this Volume is 15th March, 2024. Articles submitted after the deadline will be considered for the next volume.
Theme
It is advisable to choose a theme that is of contemporary relevance and has an issue of law to be engaged with analytically. Papers dealing with foreign themes, in any of the above categories, should also engage with its relevance in the Indian context. Papers dealing with comparative work or general matters of legal theory not related to a particular jurisdiction are also welcome.
Submission Guidelines
- Articles (5000 to 10000 words, inclusive of footnotes): Papers that comprehensively analyse a theme and engage with all the existing literature on it.
- Essays (3000 to 5000 words, inclusive of footnotes): Papers that concisely analyse specific contemporary issues.
- Case notes and/or Legislative commentaries (2000 to 7000 words, inclusive of footnotes).
- Book reviews: Between 2,000 to 3,000 words.
- Manuscripts are screened for plagiarism and, if found, manuscripts will be rejected at any stage of processing.
- By submitting contributions to NLUD JLS, the author(s) confirm that the manuscript is not being simultaneously considered for publication elsewhere (online or print).
- Co-authorship is permitted up to a maximum of two authors.
- Each submission (except Book Review) should be accompanied by an abstract of not more than 200 words, and at least five keywords.
- Please ensure no information that can be used for identification in the submission document.
- Submissions must conform to the Oxford University Standard for Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA), 4th Edition.
- All submissions must have 1.5 line spacing in Times New Roman format, with font size 12.
