About the Institution
The College was started in the year 1948 as a Government law college and
subsequently became University Law College, Bangalore. The University Law
College, Bengaluru is presently offering Five Year B.A.LL.B. (Honours)
Programme and Two-Year LL.M. Programme with four specialization branches. The
college and Department of studies are housed in the Jnanabharathi Campus of
Bangalore University.
The College has proud Alumni including the former Chief Justice of India
Hon’ble Justice M. N. Venkatachaliah, Former Judges of the Supreme Court
Justice Hon’ble Justice N. Venkatachala, Hon’ble Justice N. Santosh Hegde,
Hon’ble Justice R.V. Raveendran, and Chief Justices and Judges of the High
Courts, three former Chief Ministers of Karnataka, many eminent Persons in the
field of polity, law practitioners and academicians. Presently, Prof. Dr.
Suresh V. Nadagoudar is the Principal of University Law College, Bangalore
University, and Prof. Dr. N. Dasharath is the Chairman of the Department of
Studies in Law and Dean, Faculty of Law, Bangalore University, Bengaluru.
About the Lecture Series
The ‘ULC Special Lecture Series’ intends to host legal luminaries and eminent
personalities from various fields to deliver informative talks on legal,
economic, and other relevant social issues. All lectures will be conducted
online. The Inaugural Lecture was delivered by Hon’ble Justice N. Santosh
Hegde, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India and Former Lokayukta,
Karnataka. All lectures will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel here.
The upcoming lecture is on 29th July 2020 which will be delivered
by Shri. Annamalai. K, Former IPS Officer & Founder, We the Leaders on
“Reforms in Criminal Justice System” at 11 a.m.
About the Speaker
Annamalai Kuppusamy was born in an agricultural family in Karur, Tamil Nadu. He
is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from PSG College of Technology in
Coimbatore, Anna University and MBA graduate from Indian Institute of
Management, Lucknow. He was a 2011 batch IPS officer & received Vice
President of India award for topping the Directors assessment for the training
period 2011–13 at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy,
Hyderabad. He began his career as an Assistant Superintendent of Police,
Karkala sub-division in Udupi district in 2013. He served as Superintendent of
Police of Udupi and also as a Deputy Commissioner of Police in Bengaluru South.
In May 2019, he voluntarily resigned his police job to devote himself for
social service. He featured in TEDx Talks and spoke about ‘The Power of Civil
Momentum’. He has proudly served nine years in his Police Service. He is also a
founder of the NGO named “We The Leaders” which aims to champion the cause of
talented persons residing in rural India and provide them job seeking skills,
dialogue for development and organic farming etc. He has lived every moment
with dignity and simplicity.
