IBJ’s Youth 4 Youth Justice International Competition: Apply by Oct 1

About IBJ Youth?

Youth are emerging as a powerful force in the global movement towards providing access to justice. As a group, they have consistently demonstrated their affinity for both fundraising and awareness efforts. Despite their talent, young people are not effectively utilized by key stakeholders in the worldwide justice movement.

Technology is also not effectively integrated into this movement, with key stakeholders opting for dated advocacy methods that lag behind the current pace of technological advancement. Due to their command over technical advancements across sectors, young people are uniquely positioned to blend new technologies and youth activism to expand access to justice in economically developing countries.

International Bridges to Justice (IBJ) Youth intends to capitalize on this previously untapped pool of talent by constructing and administering a global youth network, composed of student advocates stationed at schools around the world.

About the International Competition

International Bridges to Justice (IBJ) Youth is seeking applications for the 2020 Youth 4 Youth Justice International Competition. This competition is focused on finding technological solutions to the inadequate access to lawyers and to information for imprisoned juveniles.

Mass youth incarceration and lack of early access to lawyers are two key issues currently plaguing legal systems in many countries across the globe. Every day, many children and youth are imprisoned, destined to spend the most crucial years of their lives living in inhumane conditions, often for petty or non-existent crimes.

IBJ Youth intends on harnessing the unused, yet the powerful potential of young people by launching the Youth 4 Youth Justice Competition. This competition would enable young people across the world to participate in project developments and to find innovative solutions by utilizing the power of technology to fundamentally transform juvenile access to justice.
