      PRESENTS TO YOU AMUZA: ORATORY FESTIVAL.

                                      Amuza will be having two events- debate and shipwreck


EVENT DESCRIPTION:

Debate

Basic debate format will be followed and the event is open to all above15 years of age. Debating, one of the most formal form of fighting ever seen. Two parties, supporting entirely opposing views on the same topic and arguing over which one should be deemed as the absolute view.

Flow of the debate:

(i) Preliminary Round

  • offline event and will be conducted in an offline manner. 

  • participants to send in entries to an allotted email address; all to be assessed by judges/team(subject to no. of registrations).

  • Time limit, 2 mins.

              (ii)  Qualifiers Round 

  • Online event and will be conducted live on a pre-notified digital video calling app. 

  • notification of the participants who have qualified to the second round to be given through an email. 

  • time limit, 3 mins.

  • A maximum of 50 or 40% of the total participants will qualify.

            (iii) Finale 

  • Online event to be held on a pre notified video calling app or streaming website (subject to prevailing circumstances)

  • a total debate time of 5 minutes.

I.e. 5 minutes + 0 minutes = 5 minutes (total debate time)


Shipwreck event


It is informal and the target audience is the same as debate. The participant is given a character which may be real or fictional. The captain of the ship can only save two out of the three people on the ship, one is himself and the other one he decides on the basis of the arguments you make.   (The captain in the said case, being the judge of the event). Participants have to makes a valid argument for their character being the one who deserves to live, is saved and hence, wins the event. The participants have to explain why they should be given the life jacket and not the other person, also a character, present on the ship. 

Eg: U.S. President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on a ship with a captain.


Flow of Shipwreck:

i. Preliminary Round -

(ii)Finale -

    Online event to be held on a pre notified video calling app or streaming website (subject to prevailing circumstances)

a total time of 4 minutes.

(2.5 min as to why they should be saved, 1.5 why the other one should not be saved)


Rules and requirements:


All entries will be judged by an internal team. Finalists will be judged by the judges.


General Rules:

  1. There is no team or group participation. 

  2. Anyone above the age of 13 can participate.

  3. Any content that has to submitted for the event has to be submitted within the window of time kept for submissions and must be submitted only on the designated submission id.

  4. Any and all submissions should also be posted by them on their social media pages with the Youth India Foundation page and the Society page tagged on them, either in the form of a post or a story.

  5. Any form of vulgarity and profanity in the video content is strictly prohibited.

  6. The details like name, city, category must be mentioned in the subject of the mail used to send the submission for the event.


Specific rules based on the event:

DEBATE:

  1. Time limit must be followed.

  2. Participants must be formally dressed

  3. Use of English and no other language allowed.

  4. The time limit set for the entirety of the debate in this round would be a total of 2.5 minutes. I.e. 2 (minutes) + 0.5 (minutes) = 2.5 minutes 

The time limit for second round will be 3 minutes. I.e. 3 minutes + 0 minutes = 3 minutes (total debate time)

  1. The time limit for the final round will be 5 minutes.I.e. 5 minutes + 0 minutes = 5 minutes 


SHIPWRECK

  1. No form of enhancing tool (eg. autotune, editing or filters) must be used in the said video.

  2. Either English, Hinglish or Hindi) though, phrases from foreign languages pertaining to your character will be allowed. 

  3. The resources and tools they can use while preparing their submission must be specified in advance.

  4. Each participant will have to send an entry video of 2.5 minutes.

  5. Once the participants are selected they will be paired with one another and then compete.

Batman vs Superman

Kanye West vs taylor Swift

Eminem vs MGK

Salman vs srk

Kangana vs Hrithik

  1. Top ten participate will be given a certificate of merit.

Rs. 1500 – winner

Rs. 500 – first runner up


Prize money, certificates and mentions. Opportunities with marketing partners and sponsors will be given if available

Registration Closes: - 23/09/2020 at 11:59 PM


JUDGEMENT:

DEBATE

  • Entries after the specified date will not be entertained.

  • The participants will be judged based on the following criteria: 

         Diction () Content matter (), soft skills, presentation. 

Marks will be deducted on the following points: Dress Code, Language used, surpassing the time limit, reading material. 

  • In the prelims, Up till 2 minutes will be the official time for the debate. On surpassing the 2 minutes, 0.5 marks will be ducted up to 2.5 minutes, after which the debate will be cut.  

  • Reference to any kind of reading material will be considered for deduction of marks based on the judge’s discretion. 

  • The language being used must be extremely formal and points will be immediately deducted for any informal conduct. 

  • Other criteria of judgement remain same as preliminary round.


SHIPWRECK

  • Not adhering to the time limit would reduce marks.  

  • The participants are judged on content, humour, valid points, fluency, character imitation and costume.
